If you want to become mobile as quickly as possible after a heel fracture, the heel relief orthosis developed by Dr. Settner and CPO Münch is ideal for you. In contrast to earlier treatment methods, you can walk within eight to twelve days after the accident with the heel relief orthosis. Crutches become unnecessary within a very short period of time since you can place your full weight on the foot. Therefore you can meet everyday challenges and your movements are not restricted any more than necessary. A particular advantage of the heel relief orthosis is that physiological rollover of the foot is largely maintained and your gait pattern appears natural and harmonic.

Sick Time Cut in Half

Treatment is completed in week twelve, and you can switch to normal or orthopaedic footwear and insoles. Thus the treatment time has been reduced by about one-half compared to earlier methods. You can once again structure your daily life exactly the way you want to. Also, additional physiotherapy is not required in most cases.

In contrast, heel fractures used to mean a long period of immobility. In most cases, doctors decided to treat the fracture surgically which resulted in a long period of bed rest. It was also not possible to permit physiological rollover of the foot with the orthoses available at the time.

With the innovative heel relief orthosis, your heel is relieved during the first week. The amount of stress is gradually increased in a controlled manner during treatment through the controlled use of individual pressure pads. Therefore the bones and cartilage become continuously re-accustomed to a physiological level of stress. Early mobility promotes healing. In addition, subsequent problems such as bone destruction which can be the result of long periods of bed rest are prevented. Due to the level of exercise, you also do not require a thrombosis prophylaxis in most cases.

The fact that the heel relieve orthosis is also suitable for bilateral heel fractures is an additional advantage. It can be used regardless whether the facture was treated surgically or conservatively.

Indication

  • Unilateral and bilateral heel fractures, independent of the fracture type and primary treatment
