Exciting discovery

Long Night of Sciences in the Otto Bock Science Center Medical Technology

Spannende Endeckungsreise

Around 70 archives, libraries, laboratories, and other facilities offered a look behind the scenes during the Long Night of Sciences (Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften) in Berlin and Potsdam. The Otto Bock Science Center Medical Technology was also open on Saturday, June 5 and invited visitors to go on an exciting voyage of discovery.

In the interactive exhibit titled "Discover, what moves us", visitors were able to experience what really happens as you walk and grasp. They learned what their body performs on a daily basis and how nature continually inspires research and development to make new inventions. A person wearing a prosthesis reported on his life and showed what is possible with modern devices. Furthermore, orthopaedic technology experts from the Competence Centre and the Otto Bock research and development division answered visitor's questions.

In addition, Rehabtech Research Lab GmbH research projects were presented to the public for the first time within the framework of the Long Night of Sciences. The Otto Bock HealthCare subsidiary company was set up at the TU Berlin in the Otto Bock Science Center Medical Technology. The goal is to expand research cooperation in Berlin over the long term and to apply scientific knowledge to applications and develop market-ready products more quickly. The focus is on research activities in the area of orthopaedics and rehabilitation technology.

A year ago - shortly before its grand opening - the Otto Bock Science Center Medical Technology celebrated a successful dress rehearsal during the Long Night of Sciences". In the meantime, over 130 000 people have already visited the unique stage displaying technologies for handicapped people.
