The number 1 challenge physically and mentally for people who have had a leg amputated is to get back to their independent way of life. Otto Bock has prepared a gait-training DVD with the support of experienced prosthetists and physical therapists.
The exercises presented here have been selected to increase safety and confidence in using the C-Leg® prosthesis early on and to contribute to successful, motivating experiences during rehabilitation.
Patients and people who are confronted with imminent amputation have widely varying degrees of knowledge about amputation, the fitting process and mobility aided by prosthetics. This is why a sub-item in the table of contents leads directly to facts and concrete examples on the topic of "living with amputation". A further item in the menu bundles technical information about the mode of operation of the C-Leg® for the patient.
The content related to the actual gait training will provide prosthetists and therapists with suggestions for their individual implementation of gait-training sessions following amputation. The exercises run from sitting down and standing up to balance exercises through to descending stairs and ramps.
