Awards for high-performance fibre composite material by Otto Bock

The high-performance carbon fibre woven prepreg composite material developed by Otto Bock has received the MATERIALICA Design + Technology Award 2011 in gold. It was recently presented in Munich in the course of the MATERIALICA trade fair. The material is also being recognised with the iF material design award 2012.
This award is expected to be presented on 10 February 2012 during the iF design awards night in Munich.
For the MATERIALICA Design + Technology Award 2011, 150 submitted products were evaluated by the jury against criteria including innovation potential, application possibilities and technical quality. Carbon fibre woven prepreg is used in orthopaedics technology, for example for the fabrication of very lightweight and high-strength orthoses as well as prosthetic sockets, and offers numerous processing advantages: thanks to its good specific strength properties, it is ideal for functional lightweight construction and permits the fabrication of customised, rigid and partly flexible devices. The thermal properties with particularly high setting temperatures speed up processing and thereby save valuable time.
